Improvements in habitability
and structural reform

FORMA is a dry construction system which lends itself perfectly to both structural modifications and renovations of factory buildings. A structural relation between brick or stone and wood has been used since the very beginning of construction. Wood is a perfectly isostatic material which combines forces with both rigid and fragile materials such as those found in factory buildings. The replacement of roofs, re-distribution of space or underpinning of structures with fatigue are problems that the FORMA system can resolve very cleanly.

The highlighted example is illustrative of this affinity. The survey proposed the new formation of a ventilation patio to improve habitability conditions. However, this entailed the substitution of a damaged roof (made from wooden joists and brick supports) for another of similar performance. A narrow street and sensitive surroundings once again made a system like FORMA the most suitable choice to solve the problems encountered.
